Before a sold out crowd at the Historic Kimo Theater in Downtown Albuquerque, the Women of the World Poetry Slam Championship was decided.
When the smoke cleared the stage, Janae Johnson walked away with the title, and a score of 29.9.
And right behind her was Roya Marsh and Mercedez Holtry, tied with a 29.7.
Well, almost. Mercedez was deducted a half point for a time penalty, which solidified the rankings and tied her for 3rd place with Desiree Dallagiacomo.
Great job, Mercedez! Your hometown is very proud!
Hi Mercedez,
Great job! I’m a young adult librarian in town and would like to ask you some questions about ABQUnidos for a teen project I’m working on. Please email me if you’re available for a short email/phone interview. Thanks!
